To this end, we are committed to improving the measurement of social impact through an approach that reflects the benefits of our investments in the areas where we operate. Our integrated strategy is based on models that follow international best practices, with the aim of offering rigorous, reliable and transparent evaluations.
We have a clear and publicly accessible tax strategy, supported by a solid tax risk management and control system. We maintain a transparent relationship with both the tax authorities and all interest groups.
Enel Américas adheres to the Enel Group's tax strategy, based on a set of principles and guidelines inspired by values of transparency and legality in tax management, assuming the responsibility of ensuring its knowledge and application.
We promote transparency and integrity in our relationships with tax authorities and act with a collaborative approach with all institutions and associations involved to carry out an effective tax system. In 2023, we contribute to projects that promote growth, social and economic development in the different regions where we have a presence. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), these projects have included the expansion of infrastructure, educational and vocational training programs, projects to support cultural and economic activities, the promotion of access to energy, rural and suburban electrification , solutions to energy poverty and the promotion of social inclusion of the most vulnerable segments of society.
In 2023, we develop more than 686 projects totaling close to 2.4 million beneficiaries on topics related to:
- we ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education (SDG 4)
- we provide access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy (SDG 7)
- we promoted sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth (SDG 8)
The key lever to carry out these projects are alliances with non-profit organizations, social companies, startups and public organizations with ties to the community.
We are committed to promoting energy access in developing countries both by providing electricity and through clean and innovative technologies to enable energy production with a lower impact on the environment.
- At Enel Américas, approximately 1.6 GW renewable energy were connected in 2023, bringing the total renewable capacity in the region to around 14.6 GW.
As the objective of this initiative, we reinforce the conscious consumption of electrical energy, the preservation of the environment and the responsible and efficient use of natural resources. We operate mainly in public schools, benefiting teachers, children and young people through the delivery of educational content. Among the activities we carry out, the training of teachers, rational and efficient use of electrical energy in students and society, visits to the Enel plant, and interaction on the energy bus, which contains virtual reality videos and totems with Educational games.
The program was born in 2016 and during these 9 years it has managed to benefit more than 40,000 children and adolescents, in approximately 70 municipalities in the different areas of operation of the Company. The objective of the program is to contribute to the quality of education through the improvement of the educational infrastructure in the company's areas of operation. The activities are aimed at adapting internal networks with the purpose of reducing electrical risk in public educational institutions, as well as their rehabilitation, improvement and general beautification. In 2023, interventions were carried out in 21 institutions benefiting 7,259 boys, girls and young people in schools in Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Huila.
