The Enel Group was one of the first signatories of the "Business Ambition for 1.5°C" campaign promoted by the United Nations and other organizations, and we are committed to developing a business model in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement (COP21) to limit the increase in average global temperature to 1.5°C. In 2022, we confirm the acceleration of our goal with the Zero Emissions ambition by 2040 for direct emissions.

The Enel Group, of which Enel Américas is a part, has also confirmed its direct emissions target in line with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C as certified by the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.

Scope 1 direct emissions

4,890 thousand tCO₂eq (25% less than in 2022), which represents 37.0% of total GHG emissions. The reduction is mainly explained by the greater renewable generation equivalent to 85% of the total generated.

Scope 2 indirect emissions

587 thousand tCO₂eq (40% less than in 2022), which represents 4.5% of total GHG emissions and 96% is related to emissions due to loss of energy in distribution.

Scope 3 indirect emissions

7,718 thousand tCO₂eq (39% less than in 2022), which represents 58.5% of total GHG emissions. 72% of these emissions are related to the sale of energy to end customers, which were reduced mainly due to the use of more up-to-date local factors.
